a very belated may

hopefully may's disc has finally arrived to everyone. and a big thank you to caroline, who left me a very joyful voicemail pointing out the hilarity of my stuffing naked cds in envelopes and rushing them out with no note or track list or anything. it's true; i doubt they would've made it out at all had i stopped to decorate or accessorize them. =)

my apologies to june, who may have been ready to go since the beginning of the month and ended up stuck waiting on me. thank you for your patience.

so now a track list for may's disc. all year i meant to create a well thought out themed cd, but ended up just throwing together some songs that i like. track 16 is a song i've always liked about finding out that you're going to be a parent, so i'd like to dedicate it to the little surprise growing inside me (who is also the reason that the disc was late in the first place).

1. the queen and i, gym class heroes (they're out of rochester, i wanted to show some local love)
2. born to run, k-os
3. wrong line, jupiter one (thanks for the tip on these guys, damian)
4. cuts you up, peter murphy
5. brother down, sam roberts
6. where have you been?, manchester orchestra
7. bordering, the draft (the rebirth of the now defunct hot water music, an old love)
8. well thought out twinkles, silversun pickups (i can't help myself, i'm infatuated with these guys)
9. the rain, k-os
10. who do you love?, ted leo and the pharmacists
11. dead to rights, the twilight singers
12. non photo-blue, pinback
13. bruised, the bens (because ben folds is the best ben of all)
14. honey and vinegar--acoustic, down to earth approach (recently signed to vagrant records and residents of my small burg of batavia, ny, who also serve me coffee when they are not on tour)
15. 9 crimes, damien rice (because i hadn't realized he had a new album out until i went to put this mix together)
16. new life, blind melon (i love you, little one!)

enjoy, guys. and if you don't like it, i can't help that your taste in music sucks. KIDDING. =)

Ah, I'm only into song 5, but I already love this mix! I was so hoping that the song titles would appear on this blog.

Congratulations on your surprise news, Monique!

love love love the album.

it's not that belated. Better late than never, anyway.

Great to see the old ben love still lives on. It's definately a mo mix.

And, I appreciate the local flava. I keep my ear to the ground, hoping to find some local lex music flava, but all i've found are some stoners playing bluegrass....

I love those coffee shop boys on track 14, if its the same group I'm thinking of, I can't beleive they got signed! Crazy!

Sharing music is fun

love all,
C
